Peter Frampton has an axe to grind. A long lost axe.

The legendary guitarist has been reunited with his prized Gibson electric guitar 31 years after it was presumed lost in a cargo plane crash in Caracas, Venezuela.

Frampton, who used the black 1954 Gibson Les Paul on the 1976 solo album “Frampton Comes Alive,” was handed the instrument last month in Nashville.

Some of the biggest names in TV history are heading back to Southfork.

The original Ewings — Larry Hagman (J.R.), Patrick Duffy (Bobby) and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen) — have signed on to appear in the pilot reboot of “Dallas,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

TNT announced the pilot of the new “Dallas” would feature the trio, who helped thrill America between 1978 and 1991, playing the high-living family from Southfork, Texas.

NEW YORK — Fox programming was back on Cablevision late Saturday after the cable company reached what it called an unfair deal with News Corp.

Fox said signals for all stations and cable channels were restored for 3 million viewers before the first pitch of Game 3 of the World Series. Fox had been blacked out in Cablevision homes since Oct. 16.

The deal also assured football fans they could watch the Sunday matchup between the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers.

Separately, Dish Network and Fox entered into a new contract restoring some of Fox’s programming to Dish subscribers.

MEXICO CITY — Mexico has formally requested the extradition of American reality TV producer Bruce Beresford-Redman on charges of killing his wife at a Cancun resort, an official said Wednesday.

The Foreign Relations Department official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly on the case.

LOS ANGELES – The last time Mel Gibson starred in a movie, he was grappling with alien invaders and a misplaced faith in the sci-fi thriller “Signs.”

That was seven and a half years ago. In the intervening time, Gibson became a cultural firebrand, directing the controversial 2004 box-office hit “The Passion of the Christ” and the violent 2006 action epic, “Apocalypto.”

She smiled and cooed over mentor Clive Davis, calling him “Big Papa” and “Daddy” while the music mogul patted her arm like a proud parent.

The pair was in a side room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel just before the Los Angeles, California, listening session for “I Look to You,” Houston’s first album in seven years, scheduled to be released Sept. 1.

“I just took a break, which sometimes you have to,” said Houston, 45, looking elegant in diamonds and a black Prada dress.

But don’t expect an emotional final show, since Leno and most of his staff are just moving across the NBC lot to produce a nightly prime time show debuting in September.

The traditional desk, chair and guest sofa probably won’t follow Leno to his 10 p.m. show, but many of his favorite comedy elements will, Leno said.

Making people laugh before they go to bed is still the mission.

“To me, 10 o’clock is like the new 11:30,” Leno said. “I hear more and more people, even young people, say ‘I can’t stay up past 11. I car pool, I gotta get up at 6.’ “

The spirit of Jazz Fest was born.

Now, the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has evolved into a two-weekend, seven-day party.

“We really set out to be an indigenous self-celebration by the culture — like the world’s greatest backyard barbeque — and to celebrate the tradition of New Orleans,” said producer-director Quint Davis, who co-founded the event.

“And now, after 40 of these festivals, we really have become one of those traditions.”
