KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Patricia Neal, the willowy, husky-voiced actress who won an Academy Award for 1963’s “Hud” and then survived several strokes to continue acting, died on Sunday. She was 84.
Neal had lung cancer and died at her home in Edgartown, Mass., on Martha’s Vineyard, said longtime friend Bud Albers of Knoxville.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Former 1980s teen movie actor and heartthrob Corey Haim died early Wednesday, authorities said.
Haim, 38, was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. PT (5:15 a.m. ET), Los Angeles County Deputy Coroner Ed Winter said. The hospital is a mile from Haim’s apartment.
Corey Feldman, Haim’s longtime friend and frequent co-star, said Haim was “a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul.”

LAS VEGAS – Marie Osmond told a Las Vegas Strip audience as she returned to the stage less than two weeks after her son’s apparent suicide that she has relied on her spirituality to cope with his death
“Little did I know I would be relying on my faith, especially as much as I did this past week,” Osmond said before dedicating a song to her 18-year-old son, Michael Bryan, whom she called “my angel.”
Wrapped in a robe with white feathers that resembled an angel’s wings, Osmond genuflected and reached out her right hand as she sang the song amid a starry backdrop.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Dr. Conrad Murray expects to surrender to Los Angeles authorities this week on charges relating to the death of Michael Jackson, his lawyer said Tuesday.
“Dr. Murray is more than ready to surrender and answer to any charges,” attorney Ed Chernoff said.
Prosecutors have not announced any charges, however, and Murray has not been told how or where he should surrender, according to Miranda Sevcik, spokeswoman for Murray’s legal team.

(CNN) — James Mitchell, the stage actor and dancer who was best known for portraying wealthy patriarch Palmer Cortlandt on the soap opera “All My Children” for nearly 30 years, died Friday at age 89.
Mitchell died of pneumonia contracted after a years-long battle with pulmonary disease, according to a statement released by ABC.
His final appearance was January 5 for the show’s 40th anniversary episode.

LOS OSOS, California – Animator Art Clokey, whose bendable creation Gumby became a pop culture phenomenon through decades of toys, revivals and satires, died Friday. He was 88.
Clokey, who suffered from repeated bladder infections, died in his sleep at his home in Los Osos on California’s Central Coast, son Joseph told the Los Angeles Times.

Willie Mitchell, the Memphis producer whose percussive, string-and-horn-tinged R&B sound shaped ’70s hits by such artists as Al Green and Ann Peebles, died Tuesday. He was 81.
Mitchell had been having health problems and went into cardiac arrest in December, according to his grandson, Lawrence.
Mitchell “was doing music all the way till he couldn’t,” his grandson, whom Mitchell helped raise, said. He worked on Rod Stewart’s most recent album, “Soulbook,” as well as Solomon Burke’s forthcoming CD.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup vocalist for Avenged Sevenfold, has been found dead at his home in Southern California, police said.
Lt. John Domingo said the 28-year-old Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach.
