LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Screen siren Zsa Zsa Gabor turned 95 years old Monday, in spite of the health scares she suffered over the past year.

Gabor’s leg was amputated last year, after previously breaking her hip and suffering a blood clot. She was rushed to the hospital several times, including the day after her friend and one-time neighbor Elizabeth Taylor died.

She was last rushed to the hospital for internal bleeding and an infection in November.

Since then, she seems to have rallied and has invited friends and the media to a birthday party Monday at the estate she shares with her husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Heather Locklear was taken to a Southern California hospital for precautionary reasons Thursday after an emergency call was made from her home, authorities said.

Paramedics and sheriff’s deputies responded Thursday afternoon to Locklear’s home in Westlake Village, which is 35 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Locklear was taken to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, where a spokeswoman told KCAL-TV the actress was stable and her parents were by her side.

ROME (AP) — Salvatore Licitra, a tenor known in his Italian homeland as the “new Pavarotti,” died Monday at age 43 after spending nine days in a coma following a motorscooter accident in Sicily.

Catania’s Garibaldi Hospital, announcing the death, said Licitra never regained consciousness after suffering severe head and chest injuries in the Aug. 27 accident. Doctors had said Licitra crashed his scooter into a wall near the town of Ragusa, apparently after suffering an interruption of blood to the brain while driving.

The hospital said Licitra’s family agreed to make his organs available for transplant.

LONDON — Singer Tom Jones cancelled a Saturday night concert in Monaco due to severe dehydration, his spokesman said Sunday, but he denied reports that the veteran Welsh crooner was suffering heart problems.

The 71-year-old star’s performance on Saturday had been due to be the last of a 3-month tour.

“Tom was ordered by doctors not to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday evening, due to severe dehydration,” a statement issued on behalf of the singer said.

“This was extremely disappointing for Tom, the band and all connected with the tour. This was the last date of a very successful 3-month tour, where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat.

Just a few months after her “Grease” co-star Jeff Conaway died, actress Annette Charles, known to “Grease” fans as Cha Cha, passed away at age 63, CNN has confirmed.

Her rep says that she died at her home in Los Angeles on Wednesday night due to complications from cancer. According to TMZ, she’d learned of her condition just a few months ago.

A brief period existed in the spring of 2007 when Amy Winehouse teetered between chanteuse with a cult following, and international superstar. It was right about the time her game-changing album, “Back to Black” was released, and just before the resulting wildfire of fame engulfed her.

Steve Kandrell, now editor-in-chief of Spin, interviewed her at a New York hotel right around that time. “We did a cover story,” he said, “but at the time she hadn’t really begun to get her head around why people wanted to talk to her.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The youngest son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver is recovering in a hospital after a body-boarding accident at a Malibu beach.

A family statement issued Friday says Christopher Schwarzenegger “is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery.”

The statement called it “a very scary week.”

LONDON — Anna Massey, the member of an acting dynasty whose roles ranged from lonely spinsters to Margaret Thatcher, has died. She was 73.

Massey died Saturday after a battle with cancer, with her husband and son at her side, her agent Pippa Markham said Monday.

The actress was born in 1937 into a performing family — her father was Canadian actor Raymond Massey and her mother British actress Adrianne Allen.

SYDNEY – Jerry Lewis was hospitalized Friday after he was unable to perform at a show in suburban Sydney, but his publicist said he was simply overtired and was released after a few hours.

The 85-year-old actor, comedian and tireless advocate for muscular dystrophy research is on a fundraising tour for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Australia. He arrived at the Rooty Hill Returned Servicemen’s League club, where he was to perform, but he couldn’t get out of the car, said Ian Lowe, the club’s general manager.

The foundation said the Sydney show had been sold out. CEO David Jack apologized in a statement, saying that Lewis was “not well enough to take the stage,” without elaborating.

(CNN) — Actor Peter Falk, who rose to fame on a shambling manner and a rumpled raincoat as the TV detective Lt. Columbo, has died. He was 83.

Falk died peacefully at his Beverly Hills home Thursday evening, according to a statement released by his friend, attorney Larry Larson. The cause of death was not released.

Though he was a renowned movie and stage actor — he earned two Oscar nominations in the early ’60s and won an Obie (an off-Broadway honor) for his performance in Eugene O’Neill’s “The Iceman Cometh” — he is best remembered for the polite, raincoat-wearing
