SYDNEY – Actor Paul Hogan, star of the “Crocodile Dundee” movie trilogy, has been cleared to return home to the United States after he was barred last month from leaving Australia because of a disputed tax bill, his lawyer said Friday.

The 70-year-old Australian-born actor, who currently lives in Los Angeles, arrived in Sydney on Aug. 20 to attend his mother’s funeral and was served with an Australian Taxation Office order barring him from leaving Australia until he settles a multimillion dollar tax bill, lawyer Andrew Robinson said last week.

LOS ANGELES – Paris Hilton was sued Wednesday for allegedly wearing someone else’s hair.

A company that manufactures hair extensions claimed the 29-year-old socialite breached her contract to wear and promote their product when she sported the fake locks of a competitor in 2008.

Hairtech International Inc. is seeking $35 million in damages — 10 times what she was apparently paid under the contract. The fraud and breach-of-contract suit cites the heiress’ partying as contrary to Hairtech’s marketing campaign.

LONDON — The world’s favorite nasty judge Simon Cowell is being sued for 2.5 million pounds ($3.8 million) by a former contestant on “Britain’s Got Talent”, according to British press reports on Thursday.

Cowell and his TV show are being sued by contestant Emma Amelia Pearl Czikai, who claims she was humiliated and degraded on the show in a broadcast in May 2009.

Czikai first lodged her complaint of unfairness and discrimination with a British employment tribunal in January.

Lindsay Lohan’s new lawyer officially stepped forward today—and made sure everyone knew he wasn’t taking the job to enable anymore ridiculous excuses.

“I have agreed to represent Ms. Lohan on the condition that she complies with all of the terms of her probation, including a requirement of jail time that was imposed by Judge Marsha Revel,” Robert Shapiro said in a statement to E! News.

(CNN) — A Michigan man and woman were convicted Thursday of trying to extort $680,000 from “Full House” actor John Stamos by threatening to sell compromising photos that prosecutors say were never found.

Scott Edward Sippola, 31, and Allison Lenore Coss, 24, could face up to nine years in prison for convictions of conspiracy and interstate communications to extort money, said assistant U.S. Attorney Maarten Vermaat. Sentencing is set for October 8.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Actress Lindsay Lohan was ordered Tuesday to serve 90 days in jail for missing alcohol counseling sessions in violation of her probation.

The judge also ordered Lohan to spend 90 days in a drug and alcohol rehab program after her jail term is completed.

The actress must begin serving her sentence on July 20, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel said.

JOHANNESBURG — Hollywood socialite Paris Hilton was arrested after a World Cup match in South Africa Friday on suspicion of marijuana possession but subsequently released without charge.

The 29-year old great-granddaughter of Hilton hotels founder Conrad Hilton and her friend Jennifer Rovero were taken into custody after the Brazil-Netherlands World Cup quarter-final game in the South African coastal city.

Rovero, who describes herself as a former Playboy playmate, model and actress on her website, was sentenced to a fine of 1,000 rand ($130) or 30 days in jail for smoking a marijuana joint.

MEXICO CITY — Mexico has formally requested the extradition of American reality TV producer Bruce Beresford-Redman on charges of killing his wife at a Cancun resort, an official said Wednesday.

The Foreign Relations Department official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly on the case.
