LAS VEGAS – Marie Osmond told a Las Vegas Strip audience as she returned to the stage less than two weeks after her son’s apparent suicide that she has relied on her spirituality to cope with his death

“Little did I know I would be relying on my faith, especially as much as I did this past week,” Osmond said before dedicating a song to her 18-year-old son, Michael Bryan, whom she called “my angel.”

Wrapped in a robe with white feathers that resembled an angel’s wings, Osmond genuflected and reached out her right hand as she sang the song amid a starry backdrop.

Michael Bryan was supposed to spend the evening of February 26 with his close friend Ruthann Clawson, and she texted him during the day about their plans, she told “Entertainment Tonight.”

But at 9:23 p.m., Clawson got this reply: “There is a letter for you on my bed.” She asked him who wrote it and tried to call, but got no answer — so she went to his apartment. Bryan’s roommate let her in.

She found and read the letter and then looked over the balcony. She saw her friend lying there, motionless.

This one was predictable: Kate Gosselin’s decision to join the cast of “Dancing With the Stars” has reportedly made her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, very unhappy. According to Us Weekly, he thinks he should be able to see the kids more than his current visitation because his ex-wife will be travelling to Los Angeles where “Dancing With the Stars” is taped.

“Jon’s angry because doing ‘Dancing With the Stars’ will keep her away from the kids for days, and she still won’t let him have any extra custody,” a source close to Jon Gosselin told Us Weekly. “Nannies will watch them instead of Jon.”

(CNN) — The death of Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son has been classified as a suicide, police said Sunday.

A family spokesman on Saturday said that Michael Blosil had died.

Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Karen Rayner told CNN she could not release further information because the death is a Los Angeles County coroner’s case. The coroner’s office said the case was on “security hold” and nothing further would be released Sunday

CNN) — Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son Michael Blosil has died, a family spokesman said Saturday.

“My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time,” the entertainer said in a statement through spokesman Alan Nierob.

Brian Elias of the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office said the death is under investigation.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Family tragedy, bad timing and tough competition kept Angela Martin from moving past “American Idol’s” Hollywood Week in three separate seasons.

The 28-year-old mother of a special needs child learned Friday that, despite not making the top 24 again, two “Idol” judges will help get her singing career cranked up.

Ellen DeGeneres, who is in her first season as a judge, invited Martin onto her talk show to discuss her struggles and to sing. And, DeGeneres said, fellow judge Kara DioGuardi will pen a song for her.

According to a statement released by Laurie Goldberg, senior vice president for communications for TLC, “TLC has reached a settlement with Jon Gosselin and will be undertaking procedural steps to conclude the litigation. All terms of the settlement are confidential. The whole Gosselin family remain under contract with TLC. “

(PEOPLE.com) — They’ve been together for more than three years and have two children. Now, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are planning to make it official.

“Yep. i’m engaged. Very happy. Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same,” Madden Tweeted Monday night, after news of their plans to wed went wide. He also expressed thanks to relatives who did not let word of the engagement slip.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — The most memorable moment of the 52nd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday may be the onstage appearance of Michael Jackson’s two eldest children to accept their father’s lifetime achievement award.

“To all his songs, his message was simple, love,” 12-year-old Prince Michael said. “We will continue to spread his message and help the world.”

With a voice that sounded more mature than his age, he then thanked “God for watching over us these last seven months and our grandma and grandpa for their love and support.”
