(Rolling Stone) — In February, when Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison arrived at the Carriage House studio in Los Angeles’ Silverlake neighborhood, they had three days booked and zero songs to record.
“I thought I was going there to add some guitars or harmonies on Joseph’s album,” says Harrison, who was invited to the session by Harper, whom he befriended at a skate park in Santa Monica. “When I got to the studio, I saw Joe and asked, ‘What songs are we going to do?’ He said we hadn’t written them yet.”

(CNN) — A North Carolina woman is alleging that “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino engaged in an affair with her husband, and says in court documents that the pair “recorded” their sexual encounters.
Paula Cook, who separated from her husband, Antwaun Cook, in June, filed the documents — seeking child custody, alimony and other monetary support — Wednesday in Mecklenburg County District Court.

NEW YORK — Smart, adventurous lead girl characters such as Dora the Explorer and superheroine WordGirl have found time on children’s television, but Hollywood has preferred to keep princesses safe in their turrets.
There’s more than just the self-esteem of girls at stake. TV executives have found young boys have no problem watching shows with girls as lead characters, which can result in improved ratings — and advertising dollars.

After a decade-plus absence from theaters, the animated heroes of “Toy Story 3″ sold $153.8 million worth of tickets during their opening weekend at the worldwide box office, according to estimates issued Sunday by distributor Walt Disney Co.
Moviegoers in the United States and Canada accounted for $109 million, a new opening record for a film produced by Disney’s Pixar Animation unit. The old mark of $70.5 million was set by “The Incredibles” in May 2004.

“Dancing With the Stars” is now in Kate Gosselin’s past, but she was back on television Sunday night with her new show, “Kate Plus Eight.” Decidedly absent from the new series is her ex-husband Jon Gosselin.
Even though he’s not involved, and despite past bad blood between the two, Kate Gosselin says that things between her and Jon are OK.

NEW YORK — If only real life for the child stars of “Diff’rent Strokes” was anything like the fictional Park Avenue life of luxury they inhabited on television.
The death of pint-sized star Gary Coleman on Friday at age 42 underscored the troubled lives of the sitcom’s stars after the television lights went out in 1986 after eight seasons. Some have even talked about the “curse of ‘Diff’rent Strokes.’”
