Oprah Winfrey is at the center of attention today for being what seems to be the shoulder to cry on for her friend Maria Shriver.

Maria, who has been at the center of a firestorm due to her husband Arnold Schwarzenegger’s infidelity, flew to Chicago Tuesday night and right into the arms of Oprah.

Maria shared the stage with Oprah for the taping of “Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular,” and “Showbiz Tonight” was right there.

(CNN) — A Michigan man and woman were convicted Thursday of trying to extort $680,000 from “Full House” actor John Stamos by threatening to sell compromising photos that prosecutors say were never found.

Scott Edward Sippola, 31, and Allison Lenore Coss, 24, could face up to nine years in prison for convictions of conspiracy and interstate communications to extort money, said assistant U.S. Attorney Maarten Vermaat. Sentencing is set for October 8.

According to several sources close to the “Larry King Live” show, rumors that King was having an affair with his current wife’s sister have been a longtime issue. “For years, we were dealing with these rumors,” said one source. “We were always trying to do damage control on this situation.”

To be specific, the source said that “this situation” was specific to King’s relationship with wife Shawn Southwick’s sister, Shannon Engemann. The source said, “It wasn’t rumors that Larry was having an affair with just anyone, it was always about him being with Shannon.”

While Sandra Bullock keeps a low profile, her husband Jesse James is trying to maintain some normalcy, hoping he and Bullock can get past the recent allegations that he cheated on her with tattoo model Michelle “Bombshell” McGee.

Gosselin was crowned the winner from a competitive pool that included former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, singer Chris Brown, disgraced beauty queen Carrie Prejean and Michael Jackson.

“Jon Gosselin was the tabloid train-wreck gift who just kept on giving!” said “Showbiz Tonight” senior executive producer David Levine. “It was almost like he was begging for attention. Divorce Kate? Check. Date the 22-year old daughter of your wife’s plastic surgeon? Check. Consider doing another reality show with fellow train-wreck Michael Lohan?

The Tiger Woods case might be closed in the opinion of the Florida Highway Patrol, but not according to some of the women who reportedly have had relationships with the pro golfer.

A Los Angeles-based cocktail waitress, Jaimee Grubbs, told Us Weekly that she had a 31-month fling with the married Woods. Grubbs said she has hundreds of text messages that prove this, and provided Us with a voicemail Woods reportedly left Grubbs on Nov. 24 in which Woods suggests that his wife suspects he is having an affair.

Jon Gosselin’s girlfriend Hailey Glassman and his friend Michael Lohan are among the witnesses TLC plans to subpoena in a breach of contract lawsuit filed against the reality star, according to new court papers.

Maryland’s Circuit Court of Montgomery County has granted motions filed by the network’s lawyers to depose Glassman, 22, Lindsay Lohan’s dad Michael, 49, as well as Gosselin’s lawyer Mark Heller, manager Michael Heller, bodyguard Thomas Meinelt and his talent rep Matthew Kirschner.

“Either you’re going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you’re going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed, so let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me,” he told the audience.

The apology came about 15 minutes into the show, but Letterman fired self-deprecating zinger after zinger as soon as he strode on stage and began his opening monologue.

“I mean, I’ll be honest with you folks,” he said. “Right now, I would give anything to be hiking on the Appalachian Trail. I got in the car this morning — and the navigation lady wasn’t speaking to me.”
