After 43 years of daytime drama, “One Life to Live” will live no more once Friday’s final episode airs.

The end of the soap opera marks the end of a series of ups and downs for fans of the Lord family saga. In April of 2011, viewers first learned that “One Life to Live,” along with its network companion “All My Children,” would soon be no more. But then there was hope. Prospect Park promised to bring shows back to life online. Unfortunately for the soaps’ faithful followers, the plan didn’t pan out.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Loretta Lynn is out of the hospital and resting at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

A statement Monday from Loretta Lynn Enterprises says the country music icon has been treated for bacterial pneumonia. The 76-year-old was forced to cancel a show in Ashland, Ky., on Saturday because of the illness.

She woke up on her tour bus around 1:30 a.m. Saturday having difficulty breathing. She was treated at a Bowling Green, Ky., hospital over the weekend and released.

With the cancellation of “Kate Plus 8″ and no immediate deals to continue to appear on television, Kate Gosselin is reportedly considering a return to nursing. Life & Style this week quotes a Gosselin friend who said, “She just completed more courses to renew her license,” and she is “terrified” about how she’ll continue to put the kids through private school and meet living expenses.

Jon Gosselin made no effort to conceal his joy over the cancellation of “Kate Plus 8,” saying he was “relieved” that the show was over and that his kids could finally have some much needed privacy. And now he has some words of advice for ex-wife Kate, who will be showless after the Sept. 12 finale.

(EW.com) — Lifetime will put John Walsh back to work: The network announced today that it has picked up “America’s Most Wanted.”

The show that began its run on the Fox owned and operated stations and then moved to the network will return for its 25th season later this year on Lifetime. (In May, Fox canceled the show as a weekly Saturday series because the show was no longer profitable but it will still air quarterly specials — the first of which will bow in October.)

All My Children” star Susan Lucci has found an outlet to speak on the cancellation of her long-running soap. According to the New York Post, the actress just added a scathing epilogue to the paperback edition of her book, “All My Life: A Memoir.”

Lucci, who has played Erica Kane on the ABC soap since 1970, spills on the behind-the-scenes action that she says caused the soap’s cancellation, and specifically sticks it to ABC Daytime head Brian Frons.

The ABC exec, she writes, “has what, for me, is that fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance.”

TBS is pulling the plug on its late night effort, Lopez Tonight.

According to a network spokesperson, Thursday night will be the final episode of the George Lopez vehicle.

The series, which premiered in November 2009, has struggled to garner broad viewership in an increasingly crowded late night landscape. He was bumped back an hour to a midnight slot to accommodate Conan O’Brien’s “Conan” late last year.

It’s really happening, soap fans. “All My Children” is really, truly coming to an end. ABC revealed today that the final episode will air on Friday, Sept. 23.

As the network has said before, the soap will end in a way that “respects the show’s legacy and honors its history.” Stars including Josh Duhamel, Eva La Rue, Carol Burnett and more will be making appearances as the long-running program winds down.

SYDNEY – Jerry Lewis was hospitalized Friday after he was unable to perform at a show in suburban Sydney, but his publicist said he was simply overtired and was released after a few hours.

The 85-year-old actor, comedian and tireless advocate for muscular dystrophy research is on a fundraising tour for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Australia. He arrived at the Rooty Hill Returned Servicemen’s League club, where he was to perform, but he couldn’t get out of the car, said Ian Lowe, the club’s general manager.

The foundation said the Sydney show had been sold out. CEO David Jack apologized in a statement, saying that Lewis was “not well enough to take the stage,” without elaborating.

And while “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Young and the Restless” “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives” are keeping the chat shows at bay, the status of one of those already looks a little shaky: With Katie Couric’s announcement that she’ll be debuting a syndicated talk show next year, ABC noted they’d like to use the weirdly elfin broadcaster to fill the 3 p.m. slot — the time “GH” airs on its stations.
