LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Screen siren Zsa Zsa Gabor turned 95 years old Monday, in spite of the health scares she suffered over the past year.

Gabor’s leg was amputated last year, after previously breaking her hip and suffering a blood clot. She was rushed to the hospital several times, including the day after her friend and one-time neighbor Elizabeth Taylor died.

She was last rushed to the hospital for internal bleeding and an infection in November.

Since then, she seems to have rallied and has invited friends and the media to a birthday party Monday at the estate she shares with her husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt.

One of Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic moments in a career that seemed filled with them was when she sang a breathy “Happy birthday, Mister President” in 1962. But who sang to her?

LOS ANGELES — A spokeswoman for Elizabeth Taylor says the two-time Oscar winner will spend her birthday watching the Academy Awards in a Los Angeles hospital room, where she’s recovering from treatment for congestive heart failure.

Sally Morrison says Taylor will be rooting for “The King’s Speech” to win Hollywood’s highest honor. Taylor turns 79 Sunday.

They are perhaps more recognizable among children as the funny-looking characters that adorn their daily multivitamin, but today “The “Flintstones” are 50! At first we thought, “How can a family that lived circa 1,000,000 B.C. be just 50?” But then we remembered it was a fictional cartoon.

Hanna-Barbera’s “Flintstones” TV series premiered on ABC on September 30, 1960, and was among the first of a new brand of television series – the hybrid that worked on both child and adult levels. “The Flintstones” centered on a working-class couple “from the town of Bedrock,” Fred and Wilma, who lived next door to their best friends, Barney and Betty Rubble.

(CNN) — Fifty years ago, Jay Ward’s animated moose and squirrel duo, “Rocky & Bullwinkle,” debuted on ABC, forever changing the way the world looked at animated television.

His daughter, Tiffany Ward, continues her father’s legacy as executive producer of the feature films “The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, “Dudley Do-Right” and “George of the Jungle,” and Cartoon Network’s (sister channel to CNN) new “George of the Jungle” animated TV series.

“My dad was a true eccentric,” Ward said. “His studio was a wonderland for me. It had a soda fountain, ice cream sundaes, a snow cone machine, a popcorn maker and candy bars everywhere.”

Michael Jackson will be buried in a private service at Forest Lawn-Glendale on Aug. 29, a spokesman said in a prepared statement Tuesday. Guests will be limited to family and close friends.

Details about the burial and the whereabouts of Jackson’s body have been tightly guarded. The announcement came a day after the New York Daily News reported comments by Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, that his son would, indeed, be buried on what would have been his birthday.

The spokesman said Jackson will be buried on the Holly Terrace at the cemetery’s Great Mausoleum. The cemetery’s Web site describes the mausoleum as featuring replicas of works by Michelangelo. It also features a stained-glass re-creation of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
